About Me

Background and clinical Orientation

I am passionate about collaborating with adults looking for support with mood or anxiety symptoms, health conditions, relationships, and various cultural or life adjustments. In my opinion, no challenge is too great for us to cope with as a team, whether you're looking for help setting boundaries and saying "no," communicating more effectively, resolving conflicts with loved ones, navigating intersectionality, attaining your goals, accepting or overcoming life's various curve balls - mental, emotional, and physical.

If you don't quite believe you can face your fears or cope with these challenges just yet, that's okay. I believe you have a lot of strengths and will work with you to realize those strengths until you get where you want to go.

I am cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive. I work primarily with individuals but also have experience with groups, couples, crisis intervention, and addictions. Adults of all ages are welcome, regardless of racial identity, gender, sexual orientation, political affiliation, or other history or life experience. I come from a pre-medical background but strongly value the holistic mind-body connection, so for those interested, I welcome the use of expressive arts to enhance the transformative power of creativity in mind-body healing. Many of my clients have benefited from art- or music-informed therapy, and I am always happy to invite creativity into sessions as gently or boldly as fits your needs.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic as of spring 2020, it bears mentioning that I embrace healthcare technology and have practiced virtually since 2017. I am telemental health certified by Person Centered Tech Incorporated, and will continue to offer phone/video sessions indefinitely, regardless of how the pandemic progresses.

I have been serving clients with a mental health focus since 2013, a public health focus since 2010, and a medical focus since the 1990s. I am registered in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC #10333), in the state of New York as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (#013762), in the state of Florida as a Telehealth Provider (TPMC3719), and in the state of South Carolina as a Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider (TLC #167 PC). I hold a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Behavioral Medicine from the Boston University School of Medicine, as well as a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Management from Drexel University. Prior to that, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of California, Irvine. My practice is informed by my education as well as more than a decade of clinical exposure in both medical and psychiatric settings.

I founded my practice in 2017 with the aim of working with clients on an authentically personal level. Having trained in various settings and health systems, I want to provide a truly safe, healthy, and welcoming atmosphere where I can consistently and fully support the needs of my clients - a level of outpatient care that many larger agencies seem unable to sustain in the long-term. I believe the therapeutic relationship should belong to the therapist and client, without interference from bureaucracy, managed care, or other third parties. This allows me to work for my client and with my client only, and ensures that my standards for quality of care, compassion, and healthy outcomes remain uncompromised throughout.

Outside of my private practice, I have worked in outpatient group practices and hospitals, psychiatric urgent care centers, mobile crisis teams, and emergency department-based crisis intervention teams. In my personal and professional life, I pursue self-actualization through creativity, productivity, healthful movement, mindfulness, and freedom from suffering. I really do believe that everyone needs help sometimes, but everyone deserves help and understanding always.
